🇫🇮 Miss Finland's photo ignites racism furor across Asia. A viral image shows Miss Finland Sarah Dzafce pulling the corners of her eyes beside a caption reading “eating with a Chinese,” prompting formal complaints from several Asian governments. Critics say the pose revives old Orientalist caricatures that reduce billions of Asians to a single mocked facial feature. Commentators across East and Southeast Asia call the gesture a textbook example of Sinophobia and broader xenophobia. Finland’s government now faces questions about why a national titleholder was comfortable with such imagery. Dzafce says she was relieving a headache and that a friend added the caption without her consent. She lost her crown last week as outrage grew online and in foreign ministries. Finnish politicians who posted photos mimicking the gesture are now accused of normalizing racism in a country that markets itself as globally inclusive.

Officials say 48-year-old Portuguese national Claudio Neves Valente was found dead in a Salem, New Hampshire storage unit, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A motive remains unknown, leaving two campuses to mourn without a trial.

🎭 Board votes to rename Kennedy Center for Trump. A President Trump-installed majority on the Kennedy Center’s governing board voted to rename the venue the Trump-Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The move would add the former president’s name to a building created as a memorial to President John F. Kennedy. Supporters say Trump deserves recognition for boosting arts funding and hosting events there. Critics call the change a partisan rewrite of cultural history. Some donors warn they may cut gifts if the new branding stands. Legal experts say only Congress, which created the center, retains authority to rename the center via legislative action.
