πŸ‡¬πŸ‡± NATO’s fine print meets Trump’s Greenland talk. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was founded by 12 members in 1949 for mutual defense. Article 5 is the alarm bell, and Article 4 is the huddle before the sirens. President Donald Trump keeps floating control of Greenland, and he has not ruled out force. Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says Copenhagen is boosting defense spending toward 5.5% of gross domestic product. Greenland’s leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen insists on sovereignty. NATO chief Mark Rutte sidestepped the question at the White House.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί At the UN, Washington calls Russia’s strike a new gear. The United Nations (UN) Security Council met after a heavy overnight barrage on Ukraine. American deputy ambassador Tammy Bruce called it a β€œdangerous and inexplicable escalation.” Officials said Russia used hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles in the attack. They said Moscow also launched an Oreshnik hypersonic, nuclear-capable, medium-range missile. Bruce said the weapon landed within several hundred miles of Poland’s border. The clash of words lands as President Donald Trump pushes a peace deal.

πŸ›οΈ Minnesota sues to slow the immigration dragnet. Minnesota and the Twin Cities filed a federal lawsuit seeking to halt recent immigration sweeps. The case follows the killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. Officials say an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot Good in the head as she drove. The lawsuit argues the Trump administration is targeting a progressive state and chilling free speech. Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned what they called intimidation tactics. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said agents are enforcing the law.

πŸŽ₯ Bystander video rewinds the minutes before Renee Good died. A 3 1/2-minute bystander clip was posted Sunday by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on X. It shows a snowy block with sirens, horns, and whistles. Renee Good honks from a red sport utility vehicle while traffic stalls. She backs up, waves cars through, and two vehicles pass. A dark truck stops nearby, and two officers walk toward her door. The footage ends, and the self-defense debate begins again.

🏦 Trump’s opponent list reaches the central bank’s front door. President Donald Trump has escalated pressure on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has subpoenaed the Federal Reserve (Fed) over a $2.5B headquarters renovation. Trump has floated firing Powell, a move that would test a norm shielding the Fed for 112 years. The administration has also pressed Fed Governor Lisa Cook to resign, and she refused. Cook said a recent staff-doctor evaluation found no signs of impairment. Investors are now pricing rates and the rulebook behind them.
