🇮🇷 Iran’s rial panic sparks protests and a central bank exit. State television said Central Bank governor Mohammad Reza Farzin resigned Monday. Traders and shopkeepers rallied on Tehran’s Saadi Street and near the Grand Bazaar. Police fired tear gas as crowds flared in Isfahan, Shiraz, and Mashhad. 🌪️ Bomb cyclones are pressure drops, not plot twists. Meteorologists call it bombogenesis when a storm’s core pressure falls 24 millibars in 24 hours. Lower pressure usually means stronger winds and faster intensification. National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Orrison says the label signals “active weather”. These storms can bring blizzards, heavy rain, and widespread power outages. They thrive in fall and winter when Arctic air collides with warmer air. North American hot spots include Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and the Great Lakes.

📉 Wall Street takes a small step back before the ball drops. Standard & Poor’s 500 index (S&P 500) fell 0.3% Monday with three sessions left in 2025. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 187 points, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 0.6%. Even after the dip, the S&P 500 is up more than 17% this year. The 10-year Treasury yield eased to about 4.12%. The Federal Reserve cut rates three times in 2025 as inflation stayed above 2%. Holiday-thin trading turned every macro hint into a mood swing.

🪩 New Year’s Eve streaming leans on tradition, not novelty. With fewer new releases, the week is built for catching up on 2025’s best. One fresh anchor is “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The show is a parade of performances, with Times Square as its metronome. Chappell Roan, 50 Cent, and Diana Ross headline a long lineup. It’s part music festival, part television comfort blanket for indecisive viewers. Sometimes the smartest choice is letting midnight pick the channel.
